Matthew Matt James was conceived in North Carolina, on the 5th December 1991. He is the son of Manny and Patty James and is of mixed race. Her mother is caucasian while his father was Nigerian. James graduated in 2010 from Sanderson High School. In 2015, he earned an undergraduate degree in Economics from Wake Forest University. James was first noticed as a reality star in The Bachelorette. James was chosen in 2020 as the new bachelor in The Bachelor season 25, making him the first African American male star. The series premiered later that year. James was the ideal selection for the role because he's well-rounded tall, large and has great humor. Rachael Krukconnell turned into his love interest at the end of season. In season 30 (in 2021) of Dancing with the Stars, James competed alongside the legendary dancing star Arnold. James and Arnold placed 12th in the show.
