Emma
Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson - born Jacqueline Luesby to Chris Watson and Jacqueline Luesby, two British lawyers - was born on July 8, 1989 in Paris. After relocating to Oxfordshire at the age of five, she enrolled in the Dragon School. At the age of six, Emma realized that she wanted to be an actress. For many years she trained at the Oxford branch of Stagecoach Theatre Arts a part-time theater school, where she learned the art of acting and dancing. When she was ten, she had appeared and played as the main character in several Stagecoach shows and school productions. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2000) the 2001 version to J.K. Rowling's bestselling British novel was published in 1999. Emma was spotted by Emma's Oxford theatre teacher. David Heyman announced to Emma that following eight auditions they and Rupert Grint were chosen as Hermione and Harry Potter. The release of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2001) was Emma's cinematic screen debut. The film broke records for opening-day sales and opening-weekend takings as well as being the most-grossing feature of the year 2001. Critics praised the film and the performance of three young stars. The Daily Telegraph, an influential British publication, described Emma's performance "amazing". Emma received the Young Artist Award as the leading young actress in the feature Film. Emma was recognized five times in recognition of her performance in the movie.
